Show Us Where You Live Friday - Master Bedrooms

It's Friday....and you know what that means!! It's time for Show Us Where You Live Friday and Kelly, over at Kelly's Korner, has chosen master bedrooms for this week. Now, I was cleaning house yesterday and sort of went into hyperdrive in our bedroom! My original plan was to just clean out underneath our bed and somehow that turned into a rearrangement. We really only have 2 options as far as where our bed goes and I decided I'd try it the other way. I'm liking it more and more and I think it makes our room look bigger. My walls are still pretty bare but I'm hoping to change that soon!!

Ok, on with the tour. Welcome to our master bedroom! It's right off the kitchen/dining room. Originally our dresser was on the wall to the left as you walk in but now with the bed where it is it looks better on this wall.

I took this one standing in the corner by the bathroom and, like I said, bare walls. Our bed used to be over on the wall you see on the left in between the two windows and it's throwing me off having the picture still there and no longer over our bed. Our bedroom furniture doesn't all match either! The sleigh bed we found at an antique store when we finished the house and I fell in love with it! The night stand and dresser match and Gene had them when he and I got together. The browns on the bed, dresser, night stand, and the curtains don't really match but I actually kind of like it. We're country people, not fancy city people, and it's homey. That's all that really matters to me!

View from the opposite corner of the dresser and our miror. The door to the left of the dresser goes outside to our porch. I love having it there because it's easy to just pop your head out and yell at Aros to quit barking! ha! Only kidding. Sort of. Ahem. Anyways, the picture above our dresser is a collage frame that the boys filled with various snapshots of us. It needs to be updated and I would like to paint the frame, I'm just not sure what color yet.

And this one was taken from the doorway of our bathroom. The treasure chest on the floor in the lefthand corner was mine from when I still lived with Mom and Dad. I got it when I was in high school and it's filled with my diploma, senior and prom pictures, and various items. I really want new bedding for our room I just haven't found anything I really like and is affordable. And I also want new curtains. But ya know...it works and is comfy! I hope you enjoyed the tour and now I'm going to retire to, well....this very room! I have a lot more to blog about and I'm hoping to get it done tomorrow! I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and don't forget to check out Kelly's Korner to see all the other tours!!

Overdose of Cuteness

I'll just go ahead and warn you now that you're about to overdose on cuteness!! Today the boys and I have been cleaning house all day and I ended up going a little overboard in our bedroom cleaning and rearranging! While I was working on that Corey and Grace were playing beauty shop!

You can't say I didn't warn you.
This morning while I was cleaning out Grace's toy box she found the little barrettes Granny bought her and she played with them literally all day! She kept trying to put them in Corey's hair but she kept pulling his hair!

I know...precious.

"Ok Mom, enough with the camera."

Trying to sneak up on him.

He's got a new look! I think they go great with the pink barrette!

She is determined to get it in his hair and he's determined to NOT get his hair pulled!!

Back Where They Belong

The boys are back home where they belong! They didn't make it in until about 5 this morning and we were all in bed but I smiled while lying in bed this morning when I heard Corey in Grace's monitor talking to her!! She slept until almost 9 and Corey heard her first when she woke up and went to get her. I was the last one up and Gene was making us breakfast. As soon as the boys walked downstairs all was well again because my whole family was home together!!

They were both getting irritated with me because I kept snapping pictures of them! And while they were gone Colt cut off all of his hair!!

Corey bought Grace a Little Mermaid toy set and she had a blast opening and playing with it! He also got her some Scooby-Doo stickers that have her name on them!! She was waaaaaay excited about those since Scooby is now her absolute favorite thing to watch and we literally watch it all day long!

Remember when I posted about my laundry baskets being empty here? Well, that is no more! I should have taken a picture after they had emptied their luggage and before I started their laundry. Both baskets were heaping and overflowing onto the floor! I got it started and that will be their chore for the day!

Beethoven is on one of our movie channels and since Grace loves dogs so much she's been very intrigued by it. Colt was up in his room playing his piano because he had dearly missed it and the minute Corey sat down in the recliner Grace was up in his lap!

Colt came down to join us and watch the movie. Gene had to go to work so now it's just me and the kiddos...at least until I have to go to work. :( It is my Friday though!!! And my day is so much better now that my boys are home!!!!!

Show Us Where You Live Friday - Kids' Rooms

Well, it's that time of the week again!! Time for Kelly's Tour of Homes! So many people participate over at Kelly's Korner that it's hard to make it to everyone's homes! This week is nurseries/kids' rooms so....

Here's Colt's room standing out in the hallway. Both boys have full size beds and of course he's got his piano in there!
Another view..more of the piano and the side of the dresser.

Gene built the desktop that is attached to the wall in both Colt and Corey's rooms and he also put up the corkboard in all 3 kids' rooms so they can hang up whatever they want and not put a bunch of holes in the walls. His closet is on the far right side of the picture. He's got random cd jackets, a Twilight poster, and some pictures of friends on his corkboard!

Front of the dresser. We found his dresser and night stand at an antique store over in Elkins and it was brand new but at a discounted price! Can't beat that! His bedroom walls are a cream color.

Corey's room from standing in the hallway. The second huge bean bag chair that was in the upstairs living room pre-home gym is now in Corey's room and he uses it as his computer "chair!" As you can tell he is a huge Spongebob fan. Always has been. Probably always will be.

Corey's desk and corkboard. He's got a picture of Spongebob (of course), some pictures that friends at school drew him, and a picture of him and Grace on his corkboard!

His walls are kind of a brown/gray and it's really pretty. We let the boys pick what color they wanted to paint their rooms.

His nightstand that doesn't fit by his bed because of the desk! We also bought Corey's dresser and night stand at the antique store and they are from the 70s. The newspaper that is framed on the wall was actually in one of the drawers of the dresser and we found it after we got it home. The date on it is from the 60s if I'm not mistaken and we thought that was pretty cool and Corey wanted us to frame it so he could hang it up.

His closet and dresser.

Now onto Grace's room. I got these out of order but oh well! This is her little dresser and it, the mirror and her bed were all given to us by one of the sgts at the pd who had a daughter that had outgrown it. It's still in pretty good condition but eventually I would like to get a bigger chest of drawers and a nicer bed. It works for now though! The "G" in the frame was done for me while I was pregnant by one of my friends, Amy, and the colors in it matched her crib bedding! I also have a picture of her on the trampoline in the middle frame and the one on the far right that you can barely see is one of the day she was born and it's an autograph frame so everyone that visited in the hospital signed it! Granny bought her the little ladybug bean bag for her birthday this year!

Here's her closet that I've just sort of re-organized with summer clothes and moving out the winter clothes. I've got two tubs full of stuff right now and clothes laying on top that need to be put away still.

Her pretty curtains that match her bedding with flowers on them! They're so super cute but I really need to get some blinds or something to put under because she seems to wake up at first sunlight because they allow all of it to shine in so it gets bright in there fast! Her dollhouse bookcase that I absolutely fell in love with when I saw it in Target and Mom and Dad bought it for her for her birthday this year. That whole corner is just stacked plum full of stuffed animals. As 90s as it sounds I really want to find a big net to hang in the corner of her room to put one in! They are just so easy and convenient! On her corkboard I have a calendar that Mom made at walmart.com out of pictures of her and family, the canvas that our friend Leah made for me, and also her birth announcement canvas that Mom had made at Bella's in Springdale!

A shot of her bed! I found the bedding at Target and absolutely love it! It matches her green walls perfectly and is young enough for her toddler years but she won't outgrow it in just 2 years either! Of course Nemo and Frosty have to be up there because she sleeps with them every night! You can see her bedrail is hanging down on the side. It's very convenient because it just snaps up when she goes to bed and then you can put it down during the day.

View from the hallway.

I took this one standing in Colt's doorway and it shows the paint color a little better. I don't remember the name of the green but we got it at Lowe's and I am sill in love with it! It's so fresh and bright and happy! Plus, once again, it's not a baby pink or anything so we can do lots of different stuff with it the older she gets! I've got several things that I want to eventually hang onher walls, but I just haven't done it yet because I really want to wait until we get her new furniture and I have it laid out a little more like I want it! The boys don't have much on theirs either because we don't want a bunch of excess holes in the walls and they haven't found anything they absolutely love and would keep up for a while.
So...that's it! My kids' rooms. I hope you enjoyed and thank you for taking the tour! Now go check out Kelly's Korner and all the other neat rooms!

Show Us Where You Live Friday!!

So Kelly, over at Kelly's Korner has started "Show Us Where You Live Friday" and each week is a different room tour. Now last week was actually the first week and it was kitchens but last week was so busy that I never got a post done so I've compiled last week with this week, which is living rooms so I cleaned house today and I took some pictures when I got done to share!! I hope you enjoy them and you should check out Kelly's blog where other bloggers have added links to their home tours also!

The color of the pictures didn't turn out great, but this is our kitchen and I took this one standing in front of the piano on the far end of the living room. Gene built our house by himself and we designed the floorplan together. Ok.....he designed it and I just approved of it!! Our kitchen, dining room, and living room are all open and I love that about it.

This one was taken from in front of the tv in the living room. The cabinets are oak and I love love love having the island because it gives us so much extra cabinet/counter space.

Our kitchen colors are red and black. Obviously all the appliances are black and then our coffee pot, blender, canisters, and coffee mugs are all red. Mom bought me the matching canisters and coffee mugs from Kirkland's!

Our blender and coffee grinder. Aunt Cathy bought us the blender for Christmas last year and I couldn't find a red coffee grinder. Gene and I have both become big coffee drinkers and it's so much better freshly ground.

Our red coffee pot that Granny bought us for Christmas this past year!

And another shot. The refrigerator is covered with pictures and Grace's little magnetic farm with all the animals. There is a window over the sink and I don't have any blinds or curtains on it because I still haven't found anything I like. The front door is on the far right. Grace has also figured out how to climb up on the barstools and then all the way up onto the island. Awesome.

Ok, here's the living room. This one was taken standing in our bedroom doorway. Like I said, it's all wide open. Please excuse my shirtless husband playing Wii golf. He's obsessed and plays it for at least an hour and a half to two hours a day! No lie.

Taken standing in the kitchen. We don't have a coffee table or regular end table because we didn't want to get one until Grace was big enough that we didn't have to worry about her hitting her head or anything on it. I'm hoping that someday soon we'll get one. You can see the piano and we really do have a piano bench, but it pretty much stays upstairs in Colt's room with his electric piano. I also have the quilt rack beside the fireplace that I got on sale at Kirkland's! Also the baby gate.
Another view of the stairs and we have 22 ft high ceilings with the low hanging ceiling fans.

Overview of the living room and kitchen. I took this one standing on the landing of the stairs. I should have taken one with the curtains closed but I didn't. We don't have blinds in any room and the curtains on the big window are cream colored and brown and when they're closed it's a cream colored one then a brown then cream and then brown again. The area rug came from Lowe's. Our hardwood floors are real bamboo and I love having them, but I definitely don't love sweeping and mopping them!!

We have two living rooms and this is the upstairs one that the kids use. Well, now it's sorta been converted into a workout room! We have another big bean bag but it's now in Corey's room.

This one was taken standing in Corey's bedroom doorway. You can see the half wall on the left and you can look over it down into the downstairs living room.
Well, that's it! Our kitchen and living room! I hope you enjoyed the tour and don't forget to check out Kelly's Korner and all the other living room tours!
